Crypto staking calculator

Estimate how a staking position grows when rewards are reinvested. Enter the reward rate (APR), how often rewards compound and any monthly deposits.

Assumes the coin's price stays the same. Real rates change over time and differ by coin and platform.

Staking $1,000 at 5% APR, compounded daily and adding $50 a month, grows to $4,685 after 5 years. That's $685.18 in rewards.

How the rewards are calculated

Rewards are added to your balance at each compounding period, so later rewards are earned on earlier ones. With an APR of r compounded n times a year, the effective yearly rate (APY) is (1 + r/n)n − 1.

Results are in USD and assume the coin's price stays the same. In reality the price moves, so the USD value of your staked coins can rise or fall far more than the rewards add.

Questions

What is the difference between APR and APY?

APR is the simple yearly reward rate. APY includes the effect of compounding. A 5% APR compounded daily is about a 5.13% APY. Platforms often advertise the higher APY.

Is staking risk-free?

No. The coin's price can fall, rates can change, platforms can fail, and some networks lock or penalize staked coins. Rewards in coins don't protect you from price drops.

How often do staking rewards compound?

It depends on the network and platform. Some pay rewards every few days, others daily or monthly. Rewards only compound if they are restaked, either automatically or by you.
