Best crypto exchange in Indonesia (2026)

Since January 2025 crypto trading in Indonesia has been supervised by the Financial Services Authority (OJK), and every platform serving Indonesians needs its licence. These five are licensed, take rupiah by virtual account or e-wallet and let you send coins to your own wallet. They differ on deposit fees, on how they charge for a simple buy and on recurring buys. Here is how they compare.

Order book fees are for the lowest tier on rupiah pairs. On top of them, every sale pays the 0.21% final income tax, which the exchange withholds, and every trade pays a small bourse levy: 0.00555% at CFX (Indodax, Pintu, Reku and Pluang) and 0.0222% at ICEx (Tokocrypto). Buying crypto carries no VAT. A buy with no fee still costs the gap between the buy and the sell price. Your bank or e-wallet may charge for a top up. Each exchange in more detail

Indodax

Indodax is run by PT Indodax Nasional Indonesia, which is on OJK’s list of licensed crypto traders, and its trades are recorded at the CFX bourse. It has the widest choice of ways to top up: a free BCA transfer from Rp100,000, virtual accounts at BRI and Mandiri (Rp1,665), BCA (Rp3,330), Bank INA (Rp2,000) and Artha Graha (Rp1,000), QRIS free up to Rp100,000 and 0.7% above, and DANA, OVO (1.67%), ShopeePay (1.5%) and GoPay (2%). Rupiah withdrawals cost Rp10,000, from Rp100,000.

Its Pro order book charges 0.10% maker and 0.20% taker on rupiah pairs, and Indodax publishes the all-in figure: 0.10555% and 0.20555% on a buy, 0.31555% and 0.41555% on a sale once the tax and CFX levy are added. The Lite buy screen in the app costs the same as a taker order. Investasi Rutin buys BTC, ETH or USDT daily or monthly from Rp10,000. About 440 coins trade against the rupiah, and you can withdraw them to your own wallet for a network fee shown before you confirm.

Tokocrypto

Tokocrypto is run by PT Aset Digital Berkat, which is on OJK’s list. You top up by virtual account at BCA, BRI, Mandiri or Nobu from an account in your own name; QRIS and the GoPay, OVO, ShopeePay and LinkAja e-wallets cost 2%. Rupiah withdrawals cost Rp10,000, from Rp100,000, up to Rp250 million a day.

Buying and selling through its simple Beli/Jual screen has no trading fee: you pay only the tax and the bourse levy. Its order book charges 0.10% maker and 0.20% taker on rupiah pairs, plus a 0.0222% ICEx levy, which means its trades go through ICEx rather than CFX. Recurring buys run daily, weekly or monthly from Rp20,000 on about two dozen coins. It lists about 500 coins in all, but only about 40 trade directly against the rupiah; the rest are paired with USDT.

Pintu

Pintu is run by PT Pintu Kemana Saja, which is licensed by OJK and a member of CFX. Pintu charges nothing for rupiah deposits, from Rp50,000, by virtual account (your bank may add a fee, for example Rp2,500 at Mandiri) or by e-wallet, where GoPay costs 2%, OVO and DANA 1.65% and ShopeePay 1.5%. A rupiah withdrawal costs Rp4,500.

Buying in the main app has no commission because Pintu quotes a final price, which already includes the CFX levy. Pintu Pro, its order book, charges 0.12% maker and 0.17% taker on more than 80 coins. Auto DCA, which Pintu calls Nabung Rutin, buys for you daily, weekly or monthly. The app lists more than 500 coins plus tokenized US stocks, and sending coins to an outside address costs the network fee.

Reku

Reku is run by PT Rekeningku Dotcom Indonesia, which is on OJK’s list, and also sells US stocks. Deposits by bank transfer or virtual account are free from Rp10,000; OVO, DANA and LinkAja cost 1.665%, ShopeePay 1.5% and QRIS 0.7%. Reku itself charges nothing to withdraw rupiah, but each withdrawal carries a Rp6,500 bank charge, from Rp30,000.

Lightning mode, its simple screen, has no trading fee: you pay only the tax on sales and the 0.00555% CFX levy. Pro mode charges a flat 0.10% for makers and takers. Reku announced recurring buys in October 2025 for its Packs, curated baskets of coins; we found no recurring buy for single coins on its site. It lists hundreds of coins and lets you send them to an outside wallet for a network fee.

Pluang

Pluang is run by PT Bumi Santosa Cemerlang, which is licensed by OJK; its crypto trades are recorded at CFX. The same app sells US and Indonesian stocks, gold and mutual funds. Crypto top ups go by virtual account at BCA, BRI or Mandiri (Rp4,995 up to Rp2 million, Rp1,665 above), GoPay (1.665%) or QRIS (0.777%), from Rp10,000. Your first rupiah withdrawal each month is free; after that each costs Rp4,500 plus VAT.

Instant orders have no fee, but the price includes a spread that varies by coin. Pro mode charges 0.10% maker and 0.15% taker, plus the levy and tax. Auto Invest buys crypto, gold or US stocks on a schedule you choose, for example daily or monthly. It lists about 500 coins, and you can send them to your own wallet for a fee that depends on the network.

How to buy your first Bitcoin in Indonesia

  1. Download the app and verify your identity with your e-KTP. Some apps also ask for your tax number (NPWP); for most residents the NIK on the KTP now serves as one.
  2. Top up rupiah from a bank account or e-wallet in your own name. A virtual account is usually the cheapest; e-wallets cost 1.5% to 2%.
  3. Buy Bitcoin, or set up a recurring buy so you invest the same amount every day, week or month.
  4. Once the amount is more than you would be comfortable losing, move it to a wallet you control. All five exchanges here allow it, for a network fee.

Is crypto legal in Indonesia?

Yes, as an asset you can buy, hold and sell. Since 10 January 2025, under the 2023 financial sector law (UU P2SK) and OJK regulation POJK 27/2024, OJK has supervised crypto in place of the trade ministry’s Bappebti, and calls it a digital financial asset. Platforms that trade crypto for customers need an OJK licence as a digital financial asset trader (PAKD); OJK has published a list of them since December 2025, and 28 were licensed by September 2026, including all five here. Trades are recorded on a licensed bourse, CFX or, since January 2026, ICEx, alongside licensed clearing houses and custodians. Platforms without a licence are illegal: OJK and its task force against illegal financial activity (Satgas PASTI) said they had shut down 228 of them by May 2026, and selling on a foreign platform is taxed at a higher rate.

Crypto is not money in Indonesia. Under the 2011 Currency Law the rupiah is the only legal tender, and Bank Indonesia bars payment companies from processing payments in crypto, so you cannot pay for goods with it. Crypto held at an exchange is not a bank deposit, so the deposit insurance agency (LPS) does not cover it.

Taxes

Since 1 August 2025, under finance ministry regulation PMK 50/2025, crypto is taxed like a security. Each sale on a licensed Indonesian platform pays a final income tax (PPh 22) of 0.21% of the sale value, which the exchange withholds for you, and buying carries no VAT; the exchanges still charge VAT on their own fees. Selling on a foreign platform costs 1% instead, collected by the platform if the tax office has appointed it, or paid by you if it has not. Because the tax is final, your gains are not taxed again at your income tax rate, but your coins still belong in the asset list of your annual return (SPT Tahunan). We found no change to these rates through October 2026. Keep your exchange statements and ask a tax consultant if you trade on foreign platforms.

Questions

Which crypto exchange is best in Indonesia?

It depends on how you buy. For the most ways to top up, Indodax, with free BCA transfers, five virtual account banks, QRIS and e-wallets. For simple buys with no trading fee and recurring buys from Rp20,000, Tokocrypto. For free deposits and Auto DCA in a simple app, Pintu. For crypto alongside US stocks and gold, Reku or Pluang. All five are licensed by OJK.

Is crypto legal in Indonesia in 2026?

Yes. You can buy, hold and sell crypto as an asset on platforms licensed by OJK, which has supervised crypto since January 2025. It is not legal tender, so you cannot use it to pay for goods, and the rupiah remains the only legal currency.

How much tax do I pay on crypto in Indonesia?

A final 0.21% of the sale value each time you sell on a licensed Indonesian exchange, withheld by the exchange, with no VAT on buying. On a foreign platform the rate is 1%, and you may have to pay it yourself. There is no further tax on the gain, but list your coins as assets on your annual return.

Is Binance legal in Indonesia?

Binance’s global site is not on OJK’s list of licensed crypto traders, and only licensed platforms may serve people in Indonesia. Selling on a foreign platform is also taxed at 1% instead of 0.21%. The five exchanges on this page are all on OJK’s list.
